This is what is rapidly replacing our precious wild plant life: garbage and litter. I know I have preached about my walk at the park multiple times but for those who do not read my journal I'll tell the story behind this project once again.
I went to a nature trail that goes deep into the forest/plains (this is kansas after all) and among all the gorgeous scenery was piles of litter everywhere. Cans, bottles, bags you name it, I found it. Even giant 42 inch tires were not exempt from the garbage spotted (Unfortunately I couldn't pick that up T.T) After I was over my initial disgust I started picking up every piece of trash I could find and ended up hauling bags of trash out of the forest. With this garbage I made these flowers and returned with them to photograph them in the original place I had found them, on the ground among nature. I just couldn't believe how careless people are with our landscapes. With all this garbage hikers throw on the ground the native flowers and wildlife are slowly being choked out and replaced with trash.
If we don't do the simple and considerate task of putting trash where it belongs (in the garbage or better yet in the recycling bin) our forests and flowers may one day look like this. Replaced by the waste of our pop culture lables and economy. They are gorgeous in thier own respects but would you honestly want to smell or pick one of these flowers? Trust me they are sharp lil devils and I cut myself on them more than once making and handling them.

PS: sorry this is huge...I left it this size so you could see the individual shots better....

I like the concept a lot. Just as the first person that commented, I wanted to say "lol" and "neat," but now I know the reason behind it. Nice work.

indeed and thanks a lot ^_^ I enjoyed making them. They look so delicate and beautiful but if you ever get close to them you realize how incredibly dangerous they are (I cut my ear on one of them just slinging to bag containing them over my shoulder)

This I like. Brutal truth of how things are, made from innocent photographs. :D nicely done.

thank you so much...even more brutal are the flowers themselves. They are seriously very dangerous to handle since they can cut you to ribbons lol
